About Us
Our History
In the fall of 2021 Andrew Pierce and Dick Brecht purchased the 1945 Lehigh Valley Caboose from Karel Westerling of Dryden. The duo used the fall and winter to get the caboose ready to move from Dryden to 107 Homer Ave, in Cortland. The plan was to open an ice cream and hot dog shop. On Saturday March 19th, 2022 the 30,000 pound caboose was moved using a crane, a tractor trailer and two smaller tractor trailers. At 2:00 pm the caboose was reset on its wheels on 41 feet of track ready for construction. Then, using the help of many local contractors and their own sweat equity, Andrew and Dick worked countless hours restoring the caboose to its past glory. On July 10th, 2022 The Frosty Caboose opened for business. Since then, we’ve been proud to serve sweet treats and smiles as a beloved part of the Cortland community.
